Quality management

In December 2007 the Rudolfinerhaus was the first private hospital to obtain the international ISO EN 9001:2000 certificate for the entire hospital and its services.

Quality has been the centrepiece of our efforts ever since the existing of Vienna’s Rudolfinerhaus private hospital. At the end of December 2007 our commitment was confirmed by being awarded the certificate ISO EN 9001:2000 for all units and sectors of the hospital. The process of certification was operated by Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) – a renowned and internationally engaged certification-company based in Switerland.

In the course of the certification process of ISO all structures and business processes were analysed, the current status was examined and tasks for the future were outlined. As one of the results of this process we developed a quality management manual describing the quality policy as well as the main business processes of the private hospital and the nursing and health care school regarding tasks for the future, structures and responsibilities.

The ISO certification process helped us create a higher degree of transparency and point out improvements, which assist us in constantly perfecting our services and business processes. By implementing the process-oriented QM-system numerous internal structures were assured to be of highest quality. Also external experts, for instance physicians brought to the hospital as their physician of choice by our patients, were intensely involved. “We are convinced of the fact that our patients benefit from the results of our ISO certification.”

Quality in the Nursing- and Health Care School
The school team has obliged itself to provide education according to the highest standards of quality. Besides the implementation if the quality management system based on ISO EN 9001:2000 these high standards are safeguarded by using newly and currently developed principles of quality for the theoretical education as well as the apprentices’ practical experience.

Motivation for employees
The advantage of our quality management system is transparency for the employees in all processes. Opportunities for improvement can be easily identified and solutions found and implemented quickly and efficiently. Perfected processes and clear responsibilities are core assets guaranteeing the professionalism and motivation of our employees. 

We have mastered a special challenge
The wide scope of the quality management system was a special challenge for all of us. Multiprofessional and interdisciplinary coordination and communication between the staff of our medical, nursing, health care services and the administration as well as the nursing- and health care school had to be implemented and made part of day-to-day routine. Up to the present this challenge has been mastered only by few health care providers and institutions in Europe.
